NC library updates services
The library has created its strategic plan in retooling its services vis-à-vis high standards, subscribing to innovations to give the students quality materials and library functions. Such services are the reengineered cataloging and abstracting of library papers, accessible and speedier Internet browsing and the acquisition of the updated editions of books and other reading materials. The month of July had seen the acquisition of 523 books with varied titles for the Criminology, Education, Geodetic Engineering, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Commerce, Nursing, Information Technology and Accountancy. In addition, there were also 4 national yearbooks, 2 almanacs and 1 Guinness book of world records, 2008 edition purchased. |
Five NCnians hurdle CPA board exam
Hard work has paid off for the five NCnians after passing the recent Certified Public Accountant’s Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) sometime lat October, 2008. Gilbert Pelayo, Dexter Gapusan, Marjocris Aquino, Christina Laylay and Alexis Bermisa are the newly registered certified public accountants. NC registered a 24 percent passing rate. In an interview with The Intelligencer, Gapusan expressed, “My education at NC has prepared me to take and pass the exam. The examination was really tough plus the fact that there were so many of us who took it.” Gapusan, along with Aquino were first time takers.

ELEMENTARY
The Elementary Department last year has shown impressive performances in the field of sports and scouting. Winning several titles has placed the department in the limelight. Among the titles won are: championship in taekwondo during the 10th BSP Camp-Oral 2008 at Balintocatoc, Santiago City and another championship in the District meet and Division Palaro 2008. Meanwhile, a 12-year old pupil nearly orbited chess grand mastery as he again garnered the championship title in the district and division categories.
SUPER CHARGE YOU BRAIN!Despite being the strongest computer on the planet, out brains do lapse. It’s hard to blame them really. As humans, we spend much for existence stuffing our brains with stuff. No matter how powerful our brains are, they need recuperation time to be kept in shape. Think of it as a tune up for your brain. Skipping brain maintenance is as silly as the person wandering he parking garage because they forgot where they parked. Is that you? Are you that person? If so, fear not; we are all that person at some point.
NC turns 67
All eyes and ears were focused on the whole NCnian community as the school celebrated its 67th Foundation Week on September 16-20, 2008 with the theme “Postmodernism: NC’s Grand Narrative at 67”. An ecumenical service opened the first day, which was officiated by Rev. Hilario Tabangin, followed by floral opening at the Founders’ statue by the immediate kin, Board of Directors and Deans and Department Heads. Afterwards, were the raising of balloons, the hoisting of banners and the opening of the Department booths.
