      The College of Education is one of the pioneer departments of the institution, it is the nucleus of almost all campus activities sperheading major celebrations of the School

PHILOSOPHY

 

The College of education believes that every individual has the teacher instinct, considering that everyone can become a teacher, however with proper training on the art and science of teaching, one can be a better teacher ever. Processing the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, a future teacher can efficiently and effectively deliver the goods to the educands. Thus the College of Education holistically prepares its students into the reality of education for them not only to be transmitters of knowledge but also creators of new knowledge.

OBJECTIVES

 

The College Of Education Aims to:

 

  1. Develop the true mentor commited to the service and the profession;
  2. Orient the prospective teachers on the thrusts, developments, methodologies and strategies responsive to the advancing global technology and trends;
  3. Train students as future leaders and arm of government in the intellectual, social, moral and professional values of the country;
  4. Develop skills on curriculum planning, classroom management and effective pedagories conductive for their respective fields grounded with research-based approaches and methodologies;
  5. Incorporate the importance of professional development as part of their life-long learning in line with national and international qualifications frameworks; and
  6. Provide varied and rich learning experiences that enhance student’s skills in communication and teaching.

A Graduate of College of Education is:

  2. A globally competitive educand who has mastery of research-based pedagolical content and imbued with professional and wholesome personality.

Every year the college of education of Northeastern College celebrates their Education week to highlight the skills of the education students on the different aspects of interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and to encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and confront insecurities. The department of education celebrated its education week on December 1- 7 2021 with the theme “21st Century Educators: Building Connections, Developing Resilience and Enliven Learning in the New Normal”. The education week was a special day for every student of the college of education. This was done with various activities lined up for the occasion such as online demonstration teaching, experimentation sponsored by Science major, Christmas carol sponsored by the Elementary major, musical duet sponsored by the English major, salintakilya sponsored by Filipino major, mathematikoi bingoaling sponsored by the math major and the highlight of this event was the Mr. And Ms. Education 2021.

The College of Education held an English Week activity called Feed the Mind, Feel the English- COED English Week with the theme of English as Experience in the New Normal from September 17th to 24th, led by the YMC Officer and the assigned Project Director Miss. Alaine Ann A. Assuncion (2nd year representative) and Miss. Lagmay, Luzviminda C. (4th year representative). Students from the Department of Education are required to participate in the activity, which will be held on the YMC Facebook page. The activity’s primary objective is to highlight the skills of education students on English macro skills and to encourage them to take larger steps beyond their comfort zone. Students will participate in an activity that will not only let them shine, but it will also teach their fellow Education students to learn deep messages behind their works. 

 

Editorial Writing, Spoken Poetry, and a Philippine Mythology Photoshoot were the three activities that produced up the program. Each activity has its own YMC officer in charge, as well as its own set of criteria and judges. Ms. Yvette Sajonia and Ms. Aimee Alangue were in charge of Editorial Writing, Ms. Precious Geil Calaunan and Mr. Mucky Gamboa were in charge of Spoken Poetry, and Mr. Gian Carlo Salazar and Jeremiah Sardoma were in charge of Philippine Mythology Photoshoot.

 

On the 2nd day of October 2021, the officers who are in charge of the first live airing of Tara Break Tayo are Ms. Cristine Joy F. Salac, Ms. Luzviminda Lagmay, and Mr. Gian Carlo A. Salazar. It was held on the NC Young Mentors’ Club Page via Google Meet. The activity helps to lessen students’ concerns and anxieties about having mental and physical ailments as a result of online classes. This also promotes a healthy lifestyle through conducting virtual dance, stretching, and exercise. With the theme: “Spreading Awareness on Physical and Mental ‘afflictions through Virtual Dance and Exercise”.
